NSW Planning Policy Update To Increase Housing Capacity in R2 and R3 zones

NSW Government has announced changes to fast-track supply of residential homes and increase housing capacity in some R2 and R3 zones.

The proposed changes would allow:

  • Dual occupancies in all R2 low-density residential zones in NSW
  • Terraces, townhouses and apartment buildings up to 2 storeys near transport hubs and town centres in R2 zones across the Six Cities region
  • Mid-rise apartment buildings up to 6 storeys near transport hubs and town centres in R3 zones in the Six Cities region
