Amendment of QLD’s Planning Regulation 2017 – Emergency Housing

Queensland’s Planning Regulation 2017 was amended on 21 October 22 through the Planning (Emergency Housing) Amendment Regulation 2022.

The Amendment Regulation amends the Planning Regulation to :

• Provide for the establishment of emergency housing;
• Provide for the infrastructure designation pathway to be used for development of social or affordable housing, by a community housing provider or under a State funded program.

The means that planning approval will not be required for the establishment of temporary emergency accommodation, for persons affected by the impact of an event such as flooding, bushfire, epidemic or the like where meeting the provisions of the new Schedule 6 Part2 (4) of the Amended Regulation.
